iKoustic Awarded for Innovation and Sustainability

Constructing Excellence National Award For Innovation

Today marks a pivotal moment in the history of iKoustic as we proudly accept the Constructing Excellence National Award for Innovation. This triumph is a testament to our unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the world of acoustic solutions. At the heart of this achievement lies the revolutionary product, AcousticWafer®, a recycled paper based board that is thermally efficient, acoustically effective, and a sustainable alternative to gypsum plasterboard.

The story of this triumph is not just one of people and organisations collaborating but also of envisioning and creating a product that redefines industry standards replacing a product that has been used for 100 years.

Sundeala : A Sustainable Partnership

Our collaboration with Sundeala over the past 4 years has been instrumental in bringing AcousticWafer® to life. Together, we’ve harnessed the power of sustainable materials, designing and weaving them into a product that not only elevates acoustics but also champions environmental responsibility in the Construction Industry.

The fusion of Sundeala’s commitment to eco-friendly materials and our expertise in acoustic solutions has resulted in AcousticWafer®, a groundbreaking alternative that not only outperforms traditional materials but does so with a lower environmental footprint.

Academic Alliances: The Birthplace of Innovation

The University of Salford and Leeds Beckett University have been invaluable allies in the development and refinement of AcousticWafer®. Through Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP’s) and other collaborative research projects, these institutions have provided a fertile ground for innovation, allowing us to tap into the brightest minds and freshest perspectives.

The seamless integration of academia and industry has not only propelled the product forward but has also established a model for future collaborations. I am personally very excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for all of us involved.

Sustainable, Thermally Efficient, and Acoustically Superior

This recycled alternative to gypsum plasterboard not only addresses the demand for acoustic excellence but also introduces a new paradigm of sustainability and thermal efficiency. In an era where environmental responsibility is paramount, cutting-edge solutions can be harmoniously intertwined with ecological awareness and drive.

Oh, and did I mention that it is also Fire Retardant ( Class B) too? Recently tested as a component within of our MuteClip® System it achieved a 90 minute burn time classification. Not bad for a paper product.

Constructing Excellence Award

The Constructing Excellence Award for Innovation is more than just recognition—it’s a validation of our vision. AcousticWafer® ‘s success is not just a technological feat but a commitment to a future where innovation meets sustainability head-on. As we stood on the stage to accept this accolade, we acknowledge that AcousticWafer® is not just a product; it’s a symbol of a future where excellence and environmental responsibility coexist. As I am writing this I am aware that it sounds a strong claim, but I make no apology for that… It’s a real achievement in an industry that needs to move faster toward bold environmental solutions than it has done so far.

The Future of Sustainable Soundproofing

As we celebrate this milestone, our eyes are set on the horizon of endless possibilities. AcousticWafer® is just the beginning of our journey to redefine what’s possible in the acoustic solutions industry. Our commitment to pushing boundaries, fostering collaborations, and championing sustainability remains unwavering. The future is a canvas, and AcousticWafer® is simply one step that signals the beginning of a new era in acoustic innovation.

Acknowledgement

In closing, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to every individual, partner, and institution that has been a part of this transformative journey. AcousticWafer® is not just a product; it’s a shared success, and together, we look forward to shaping a future where acoustic excellence and sustainability are synonymous.

Special thanks to Gabriel Whittle, University of Salford, Leeds Beckett University and Sundeala.
