Big things have been happening at iKoustic.
We have always prided ourselves on being at the forefront of innovation for soundproofing. The development of the Mute range perfectly encapsulates that. Building on the success of this range, the research and development department has been hard at work designing world-leading optimisation processes to ensure new products are designed to the highest specification.
The first big innovation is a prediction model utilising the unique properties of the materials being investigated. The model uses a variety of advanced modelling techniques to create the most accurate picture of the sound insulation performance of a specific material. The use of this model requires knowledge of the structural properties of a component of the full system – an example of a structural property of a component would be the density of acoustic plasterboard. A change to the component properties will allow the user to understand how a realistic design change will affect the performance of the entire system. This allows for iKoustic engineers to have a realistic idea of what will and won’t work with prototype products before a final design is picked.
Given successful performance modelling, the shortlisted products will then be installed and measured in “Gadrian’s Wall”, our second big step towards innovative design solutions. This novel test rig is the first of its kind in the world, using advanced vibration analysis to confirm our test results in a fraction of the time and cost required using the traditional methods for sound insulation testing. The initial results from this novel testing methodology have been validated using results obtained from the traditional method, giving us the confidence to deliver performance results on all our systems.
The use of Gadrian’s wall in combination with the prediction model significantly reduces the time it takes to bring effective, sustainable, and affordable products to market. The evidence for this will be clear with the release of our new product, AcousticWafer™. This product is the first product to be designed utilising all the new innovative solutions available to iKoustic, and the results speak for themselves.
With innovation as a priority, we have designed a suite of new tools that are unique to iKoustic, meaning that no other company is doing more to push the boundaries of innovation within soundproofing. No rock has been left unturned in our search for the highest performing products. These tools herald a new beginning for the sound insulation world, cementing iKoustic as a leader in innovative design.
We cannot wait to share some of the products we have developed with these new tools. Our first launch is expected in early March!
