StillNote™ | Acoustic Panels

StillNote™ is a sound absorption solution designed to tackle your noise and reverberation issues effectively. If your space feels echoey and cathedral like the fitting of some acoustic panels can really help. Fitting the panels is easy with the use of spray adhesive or Mammoth double-sided tape.

StillNote™ is crafted from polyester fibre with over 60% recycled content. The board maintains its shape and integrity, proving to be a long-lasting investment for your space. With both sides lightly pressed, StillNote™ presents a smooth finish, for a clean minimalist feel.

Sound Absorption

StillNote™ boasts a sound absorption coefficient (αw) of up to 0.9, offering a superior solution for reverberation problems in various environments.

easy handle 89

Comfortable Handling

Unlike mineral wool-based acoustic panels our boards are non-irritating, making them safe and comfortable to install and maintain.

Eco 91

Environmentally Optimised

Over 60% of the material is recycled, making StillNote™ a more sustainable choice for sound insulation. We are working to move toward 100% recycled materials.

Thermal 92

Thermal Insulation

In addition to sound absorption, StillNote™ provides excellent thermal insulation, enhancing your space’s energy efficiency.

Ideal reverberation times for common spaces:

Use this guide and our calculator to get a rough idea of how much absorption you may need to control your noise issue. Without a full assessment, this tool works as an good rough estimate.

  • Restaurant: Ideal reverberation time is between 0.6 – 1.3 seconds. Too much echo can make conversations difficult, while too little can make the space feel dead and uninviting.
  • Office: Ideal reverberation time is between 0.6 – 0.8 seconds. Good acoustics can significantly improve productivity by reducing noise-related distractions.
  • Recording Studio: Ideal reverberation time is usually very low, around 0.2 – 0.6 seconds, to ensure clarity of sound and minimal echo.
  • Church: For traditional, larger churches, the ideal reverberation time can be as high as 2.0 – 4.0 seconds. This helps to carry organ music and choral sounds.
  • Concert Hall (classical music): Ideal reverberation time is around 1.8 – 2.2 seconds. This balances clarity with a sense of envelopment and resonance.
  • Classroom: Ideal reverberation time is between 0.4 – 0.6 seconds. Clear acoustics are vital for effective teaching and learning.
  • Living Room: Ideal reverberation time is around 0.4 – 0.7 seconds. This ensures clear speech and good-quality sound for home entertainment systems.
  • Home Theater: Ideal reverberation time is around 0.2 – 0.3 seconds for clear, high-quality audio reproduction.
  • Auditorium: Ideal reverberation time is between 1.0 – 2.0 seconds, allowing for clear speech intelligibility and a sense of spaciousness.
  • Gymnasium: Ideal reverberation time is between 1.5 – 2.0 seconds. This keeps the sound lively while avoiding excessive echo that can make instructions difficult to hear.

Predicting the necessary sound absorption levels for a physical space is challenging due to the various factors that can influence the overall soundscape. Even if two spaces have the same volume, their geometry and material composition can differ, resulting in different sound behavior. Factors such as the number of windows, recesses, or the presence of a mezzanine level can significantly alter how sounds are reflected and modified within the space. These effects can be either advantageous or detrimental depending on the intended activities and events. To determine the optimal sound figures, it is essential to gather comprehensive information about the space, including current or proposed activities, and specific details regarding the following:

The size of your room/space

Geometry of your room. This would be features like a vaulted ceiling which would behave very differently to a standard flat ceiling. Please also include the shape of the room and if there are sloped walls.

The materials of your roof, such as a carpeted floor, or exposed brick wall.

When we have collected this information from you, we will be able to consider creating an estimated acoustic model or perform an acoustic test. After this has been completed, we will be able to best advise you on how many SoundSquash panels will be needed to successfully treat your roof.

Our Still Note™, at 40mm thickness will lower the sound pressure of a space and noise issues that hard surfaces can amplify. SoundSquash helps to reduce background levels of airborne noise and combat the issues that hard surfaces can create. For excessive noise problems, look at our MuteRange for acoustic materials that are used for the reduction of sound transmission.

If you have an establishment that benefits from an open plan dinning and cooking experience, you may also struggle with the levels of noise inside the space. Hard surfaces found in a working kitchen, such as tiles and stainless steel worktops, will reflect and amplify noise. This can disturb your customers as they try to converse and relax.

To combat this issue, whilst still retaining the theatre that an open kitchen can bring you, it's best to use absopative materials. Installing acoustic panels is an ideal way to control the attenuation of sound in your space and they are completely appropriate for restaurants. It is only advised that darker tones are used for areas with excessive vapor as this may cause staining over time.

See our product data sheet, (available in downloads), for installation instructions. These acoustic panels are incredibly light weight and easy to install with an appropriate adhesive spray. They are designed for a direct to wall, or ceiling, installation.
