NOISE REDUCTION

Hear the difference.

Play the video to hear the sound difference before and after installing this system. For best results try to match the volume of the unreduced audio to the volume of the noise you’re able to hear.

The noise in the video has been digitally reduced to give you an idea of the sorts of results you could expect. Unfortunately, this is not a perfect science and your personal results could vary due to myriad reasons. However, we have found our customers prefer to hear a decibel reduction rather than read it!

We stand for quality, and we are proud of it.

MuteBoard® 3 system is a slim wall soundproofing solution, one that is practical for even the most space-conscious projects. As a direct fit system, MuteBoard® 3 reduces airborne noise through its high mass, as the more substantial the materials the most effective they are at ‘blocking’ airborne noise. What this means for your soundproofing efforts is with any muffled conversation or any other low-level background interference are going to be reduced.

As a firm favourite in our range with those who are working on those space-conscious projects, this system is used for soundproofing homes and workplaces.

Soundproofing Existing Walls

The MuteBoard 3 is ideal soundproofing for existing walls, no need to install a clip and channel or stud frame. The System is slimline and easy to install.

Firstly self-adhesive Tecsound SY70 is rolled onto the existing wall as a vibration-dampening high mass layer. The Tecsound is then over boarded with MuteBoard 3.

MuteBoard 3 consists of 3 layers, the first is a layer of noise vibration absorbing closed cell foam. The second is a layer of heavyweight mass-loaded vinyl. and the system is finished off with a layer of acoustic plasterboard for a functional finish that can be taped and jointed or skimmed ready for decoration.

Questions

A soundproofing system isn’t rocket science but sometimes figuring out which one is right for you can be challenging. Check out our FAQs, get in touch via our live chat, or give us a call to speak to a human.

Housing in the UK ranges over a significant time period, some offer great levels of acoustic protection against airborne through using heavyweight materials available at the time like a dense stone cottage, up to the residential blocks using cheap building materials that offer very little protection against noise for the tenants.

Neighbour conflicts that concern noise complaints are of the highest and it is a common issue we come across every day. These noises often don’t have to be in excess of what you would be familiar with in your own home, for instance, a typical conversation, watching television or in the kitchen preparing dinner – if the house is poorly insulated against sound these noises can be intrusive and somewhat stressful.

MuteBoard® 3 as a direct to wall option helps to provide reduction to background noise levels that revolve around muffled conversation and occasional rise in television, it is important to remember this is designed to be a slimline acoustic option that takes up only 25mm and for noise issues that are heard clearly, a more robust option would be best sought.

The availability of slim acoustic solutions are just as important as those that provide robust options for the total space available will determine what can be installed, unless you undergo structural alterations.

Our MuteBoard® 3 can be used across a range of projects that include separating rooms in doctors’ surgeries to improve acoustic privacy or in the division of internal workshop spaces that are limited in space. Wherever there is a brick or block wall that requires an improvement without the drastic loss of space, MuteBoard® 3 is a great option.

Part E Building Regulations are required for all new conversions and new builds, unless there is a scenario in which any particular circumstance exempts you from requiring to (where you will want to speak your Building Control or Council Officer) such as listed building status – you will need to have your building project pass each target. It may only be that conversion projects would concern with using an internal framework to separate dwellings in this scenario.

We would often advise that on some level a form of separation is provided somewhere in the partition design to reduce the impact of low-frequency transfer, depending on the current acoustic results or estimated density of the proposed wall partition (for new builds) it is difficult to come to a conclusion, if these cannot be obtained perhaps combining with our MuteClip® System direct with use of MuteBoard® 3 as the final finish would be the best approach.

The age and condition of the wall is an important consideration in making sure it is both stable and not containing lots of gaps or cracks in the mortar or brickwork. If the wall is uneven throughout this will make it very difficult to install MuteBoard® 3 directly to as it is not a flexible product, breaking MuteBoard® 3 down do accommodate these will open up further airgaps and trapping of sound behind them

A wall will often require patching up and rendering to create a smoother and easier finish for installation. If you are uncertain then speak to a structural engineer to be sure of it’s support of MuteBoard® 3.
