MuteBoard® 2 Soundproof panels

Soundproof panels are a rapid and slimline solution to noisy neighbours. MuteBoard® 2 is made up of high-density soundproof plasterboard and a layer of Tecsound SY70. Both of these layers add plenty of mass (necessary for soundproofing) but the Tecsound also delivers resilient properties that help to ‘de-couple’ the soundproof panel from the existing wall, preventing the transfers of vibrations.

MuteBoard® 2 can be installed on ceilings, masonry or stud walls but we generally recommend MuteBoard® 3 or MuteBoard® 4 for masonry walls for an easier finish.

Skim or tape

Tape & joint or skim

Our MuteBoard® soundproof panels have a tapered edge. This means you’re able to tape and joint as a speedier way to finish your project. Our panels are also ready for traditional skimming.

Soundproof Panels for walls

Soundproofing panels for walls

MuteBoard® 2 comes in at just 19mm thick but adds 23kg per m2. More mass = better sound reduction, meaning this product offers great noise reduction for such a slim solution. MuteBoard® 2 can be used in wall systems to improve its stand-alone soundproofing.

Airborne noise

Soundproofing against airborne noise

The airborne sound caused by noisy neighbours can cause a great deal of stress and discomfort. Products like MuteBoard® can reduce airborne sound and help you take back your home.

Soundproof Panels UK Delivery

Our soundproof panels are shipped on a pallet. Unlike others, we hold stock of all of our products ready to dispatch same day Monday to Friday. We also offer next-day delivery for orders placed before 1 pm Monday to Friday.

MuteBoard® 2 is our acoustic panel that is easily installed either directly to brick and block walls, or fitted onto an existing or new stud framing. Each board requires multiple fixings across each board and is a great space-saving option for soundproofing the home or office against airborne noise, low-level conversations and or light television usage.

You can improve performance by installing an additional stud frame that is separated from the existing partition and using acoustic mineral wool to create a sound-insulated stud frame.

MuteBoard® 2 is a suitable solution to soundproof a ceiling where issues with ceiling height are at an absolute premium with noise issues that fall into the background noise level category. The use of acoustic mineral wool is important between any joists, battens and adjacent wall cavities to ensure the best acoustic performance.

Various upgrades can be added alongside MuteBoard® 2 to increase the effectiveness of soundproofing. One consideration that is often neglected is the use of acoustic mineral wool between adjacent cavities. These can be stud frame walls adjacent to the wall or between flooring and ceiling joists as a few examples – we would always recommend these to be put in place to reduce what is called ‘flanking transmission’.

Fitting MuteBoard® 2 onto a dedicated stud frame will help drastically improve performance for more problematic noise issues where space is a concern or a specific budget has been allocated to where MuteClip® or other alternatives are not possible.

We advise not to fix MuteBoard® 2 with adhesive. This is because the viscoelastic backing will not receive adhesives for a strong bond to the majority of structural materials owing to the porous nature of the material.

Yes, you will need to fix through the MuteBoard 2 back into the MuteClip channel if used, if not fix through the MuteBoard 2 into the stud frame or joist.

The blue paper finish will want to be facing into the room; if using a tapered edge, it will be the tapered edge facing into the room.
