Tecsound - Soundproofing Membrane

Tecsound is a visco-elastic soundproofing membrane for damping vibration. It is a dense rubber-like material that is often used in soundproofing systems. Most Tecsound products we sell are self-adhesive soundproofing membrane so can be stuck directly between two layers of soundproof plasterboard. It is easy to cut to size and can be purchased in half rolls to make for easier application and manoeuvring. Tecsound is a highly effective upgrade when soundproofing a wall, ceiling or floor, particularly against airborne noise.

Tecsound FAQ

Tecsound is a viscoelastic membrane used for soundproofing. It can be used on ceilings and walls. Tecsound is particularly effective for soundproofing as it is very dense and heavy but also due to its elasticity it is great at dampening sound vibrations.

Yes, most soundproofing specialists include Tecsound in their systems these days. it’s an excellent addition to add mass and dampen vibrations.

Tecsound is peel and stick self-adhesive. Cut it down to manageable sizes and apply it straight to the wall or ceiling. This video shows how you can overlap your edges and cut away the excess for a solid seal if not butting pieces up perfectly is also fine.

No, Tecsound is a viscoelastic membrane. Mass-loaded vinyl is more appropriate underfoot as an acoustic underlay as it is hardwearing. For walls and ceilings, Tecsound can be used over MLV for ease of application and the added benefit of vibration dampening.

For floor soundproofing under carpets, mass-loaded vinyl is a preferable solution as it holds up better to wear and tear. For walls and ceiling, we advise you use Tecsound as it works better between two layers of acoustic plasterboard and add vibration dampening.
